When is drone footage appropriate?

Drones are so ubiquitous now that they are often overused. Drone footage does have a time and place, though. An omniscient point of view or establishing a city or landscape as a character is a perfect example. Here we did our best to imitate the opening credits scene of "Drive." We put the link at the end of the video so you can compare the two. How did we do?

Drone footage is also useful for businesses such as construction and property development, where the full scale of a project can only be captured from the air. However, NO video should be all drone footage and nothing else. The most important thing of all, however, is story. Specifically, emotional investment. This takes experience and a lot of planning to do well. Closeups, music, shot design, and scripting are just the beginning.
